Welcome to the anime portion of AmbushVin.com!
I am Darrell Maddox the main writer for anime reviews and editorials. I thought it would only be fitting that in my first of two articles that I would give an introduction.
I am very passionate about anime since I was exposed to it at the early age of 4 years old. I remember seeing Astroboy and Gigantor in black and white, so I had an appreciation for the old school anime and art style. Though on the other hand, as anime continued to become even more artistic and right along with that the stories, plots and characters became even more complex depending on the anime you watched.
It was a new experience for someone who appreciates this style of animation from many facets. What I plan on doing is just giving my opinion about how I feel about particular shows that I suggest. I don’t plan on just writing about what’s new, popular, or based on a particular genre. I plan on being as diverse as possible in my articles, because just like people, there’s just way too much depth when it comes to anime. Some anime you may not like, and some you may.
I know personally I am a Mecha, Chanbara, Harem, and Hentai fan. Don’t judge lol! I mean I am a sucker for a good story and plot, but when characters are developed well that makes it even more enjoyable to me as an anime fan. I am not one of those sub versus dub types either. I enjoy both. I am fluent in Japanese so it doesn’t matter if I have subtitles or not. Anime is an experience! Even though it may be a fictional story, in most cases I know people still relate to it because there is a story that has moved us in anime.
To be honest, the first time I saw Grave of the Fireflies, I seriously shed tears because it was a beautiful story. Although sad and tragic, it was done well. One of the reasons I got into Chanbara, or Samurai Anime, was because of Lone Wolf and Cub’s beautiful artistic style. It stayed true to the samurai spirit. Of course, I would be slipshod if I did not mention Mobile Suit Gundam 0079 Universal Century.
Now in the Universal Century, everything is politically charged, which is something that fans who enjoy that kind of drama love. Not to mention the art style and passionate speeches that have literally made people choose sides – especially when it comes to having a love-hate relationship with Char Aznable.
But enough of my ramblings. I just want to bring something special to the audience in concerns to anime in an unbiased fashion, Though I may love particular shows, I am not above ripping them to pieces and giving my honest opinion. This is about more than you-should-watch-this-anime-because-I -love-it. This is more about “what I think Darrell had to say may be interesting enough to make me at least give this particular show a try. I I don’t like it, that’s still cool.”
My goal is to allow readers to form their own thoughts on show while sharing my perspective. We don’t always have to agree on what’s good, bad or ugly, but we can always agree to disagree in a respectful manner. Although if enough buttons are pushed, the savagery will be unleashed worst than Thor unleashing thunder with Mjolnir!
To all those who will be reading my work as it is posted, I pray that I can entertain you. My goal is to entice you into giving great thought into what is presented to you. Most importantly, I don’t want the information to come off as a pompous fanboy know-it-all who just wants people to like an anime he reviewed or wrote an editorial about. This is about enhancing the anime experience through my writing to a broader audience who just want to see thoughts on anime from another prospective.Trust me I will be writing about different genres, including some of the not-too-popular taboo ones from time to time.
I hope that in the oncoming weeks, my readers will enjoy what I have to say. Even you don’t, that’s OK.
Irespect that our opinions may differ.
