It’s been a little over a year since Deadpool set the bar for Rated R comic book films and things are turning out great! Shout-out to the person that leaked that test footage. We’re getting a whole new assortment of rated-R comic book movies because of that.
One could argue that Logan would not exist had it not been for the success of Deadpool. Trust and believe we all needed to see X-23 throw that dude’s severed head at The Reavers and then viciously attack them, leaving behind a bloody pile of carnage. A PG-13 movie would have not done Logan justice. Plus, how perfect was Dafne Keen? Seriously, the last time we were this hyped off a kid’s performance, in a rated-R film, was Natalie Portman in The Professional. We were watching X-23 merking everyone on screen with tears in our eyes like…”This…is…for…Mathilda.”
Fast forward to the latest announcement of another Rated R comic book film, Venom, starring Tom Hardy and holy sh** ballz we’re geeked! As much as we want to see Tom Holland in this project there are rumors that it might not happen. If that’s the case let’s get Donald Glover (Miles Morales) in there immediately! We’re over here rockin’ out to Logic’s Black Spiderman like, “I think they should know what’s up.” How you gonna make a Venom movie without Spider-man? The only exception would be a Venom vs Carnage film, and even then, why not have Spider-man? But, anything has to be better than the last time we saw Venom on the big screen. That role gave Eric Forman’s career Pai Mei’s Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique.
In other words, he did not walk away from that one.
While the Venom film is still in early development, we’ll be looking forward to seeing it in 2018. Let us know what rated-R comic book film you’d like to see. Our pick is a Death of Superman film that was as bloody and brutal as the comic. Shout-out to Blue Beetle and that purple Supergirl.
